Get ready for the biggest event in hip fracture care in Ireland - HIPFEST 2024, taking place on Tuesday 21st May 2024. The Irish Hip Fracture Database (IHFD) has achieved 10 years of data and we invite you to join us in celebrating this significant milestone.

On Tuesday 21st May 2024, we will gather to celebrate 10 years of IHFD data. Topics covered on the day will include type of surgery, pain management, nutrition, bone health, surgical site infection surveillance, long-term outcomes, the Irish Hip Fracture Standards, and much more. We will have a range of national and international speakers including:

  • Professor David Marsh, Founder of the Global Fragility Fracture Network

  • Dr Antony Johansen, Clinical Lead, National Hip Fracture Database, UK

  • Dr Cris Ojeda Thies, Clinical Lead, Spanish Hip fracture Register

  • Dr Emer Ahern, Clinical Geriatric Lead, IHFD

  • Mr Terence Murphy, Clinical Orthopaedic Lead, IHFD

Call for Abstracts

We are also pleased to open our call for abstracts. Consider submitting an abstract to highlight the quality improvement work from your hospital/team.

 The top 5 abstracts will be chosen for oral presentation and the remainder will be considered for a poster presentation.

All submissions must be sent to ihfd@noca.ie by 5pm on Friday 19th April 2024.

The full programme of speakers will be circulated in coming months and CPD points will be available.
